Reviews

Settles In Well

"Sensitive stomachs can be tricky, especially with an active dog that still needs a solid meal. This food has been pretty easy to work into the routine, and the chicken and barley formula seems to sit well without making meals complicated. The probiotics and prebiotics are a nice bonus too. Nothing flashy, just a practical option when digestion needs a little more attention."

Easier on the Stomach

"Finding a food that sits well with an active dog can take some trial and error. This one has been pretty easy on the stomach, with normal digestion and less fuss around mealtime. The chicken-based recipe and added probiotics are a nice combination, especially for dogs that can be a little sensitive. Energy has stayed steady too, which matters with dogs that are always ready to work or train. Nothing complicated, just a solid everyday food that seems to agree with them."

— GutPupz (5/5)

Steady Digestion

"Sensitive stomachs can make finding a regular food a bit of a process. This recipe has been easy to work into the daily routine, with digestion staying consistent and no noticeable fuss after meals. The dogs also seem to enjoy the chicken flavor, which helps keep feeding time simple. A practical choice for active dogs that need a reliable everyday diet."

Sits Well

"Finding food that agrees with both an active dog and a sensitive stomach can take some experimenting. This one has been sitting well so far, with more consistent digestion and fewer little stomach issues after meals. The chicken-based recipe is easy to work into a regular feeding routine, and the added prebiotics and probiotics are a nice bonus. It has also been convenient during camping trips when keeping meals simple matters."

— BeachTummy (5/5)

Great Dog food

"I wish I could say all 10’s on everything but sometimes my Bronzon will eat it sometimes he won’t. I only opened one the Turkey he ate it the first 2 nights then I poured some chicken broth on it he ate a little bit. There are too many ppl that have given him their left overs for 5-6 yrs. I’m trying to get him on healthy diet. My vet doesn’t like he’s over weight neither do I I have threatened everyone not to feed him anything. So far they’re doing their part now for him to do his."

— Andrea H. (5/5)

For Picky Eater

"Finding food that agrees with a sensitive stomach can take some trial and error. The chicken recipe has been sitting well with my dogs, with normal digestion and no noticeable issues after meals. Having probiotics and prebiotics included is a nice bonus, especially when keeping their diet consistent. It’s become a dependable option for regular feeding without making meals complicated."

The Nutrition Value is Awesome

"A switch to this kind of chicken and barley formula can make a noticeable difference when a dog has a touchy stomach. The combination of prebiotics and probiotics is what caught my attention, especially when dealing with inconsistent digestion. The dogs seem to do better with a simpler routine, and having chicken as the main protein is a nice plus. Nothing overly fancy just a straightforward food that fits well into an everyday feeding routine."

— Paws T. (5/5)

My 100 lb dog loves this food!

"My dog usually isn't into salmon-flavored food, but he loves this recipe. He's 100 lbs, so we go through the bulk bag fairly fast, which is convenient. No stomach issues during the switch either, which is always my biggest worry with a new brand. Would recommend."

— Imogen (5/5)

Probiotic Chicken Meal

"A gradual switch made this pretty easy to work into the regular feeding routine. The dogs seemed interested in the chicken and freeze-dried pieces, and the food was simple to portion around training and outdoor days. Having prebiotics and live probiotics included is convenient when trying to keep meals consistent, especially for dogs that can have occasional digestive ups and downs."

— Gut_Pawz26 (5/5)

My dog is noticably bwtter

"My dog is noticably bwtter after switching foods. His stools are firm and healthy and he has not had any more upset stomach or bloody stool incidents."

How do I know if Kismet is right for my dog?

Kismet’s recipes are designed to meet the needs of dogs at all life stages, regardless of size or breed. We partnered with board certified vet nutritionists to develop a complete and balanced diet that provides high quality nutrition gentle enough for sensitive and allergic pups, while still satisfying athletic breeds. Our support team is happy to answer any questions you may have, and we also encourage you to check with your veterinarian should you have specific concerns.

We take our 100% satisfaction guaranteed promise seriously, so please contact support@kismetpets.com if Kismet isn’t the right fit for your pup.

Why does your food for dogs include dry food and freeze-dried nugs?

Backed by decades of scientific research, dry food (a.k.a. kibble) is the simplest and safest way to ensure that your dog is getting all the nutrients they need in a complete and balanced diet. Developed by expert formulators and board certified vet nutritionists, our dry food recipes feature real animal protein as the first ingredient (no animal by-product meals ever), antioxidant rich superfoods, and pre and probiotics. But we wanted to go a step further, so we added freeze-dried meat and sweet potato nuggets (a.k.a. nugs) to every bag to enhance our food’s flavor and include even more protein. We call it adding extra to the ordinary.

Why should I choose dry food for my dog instead of raw or fresh?

The highly perishable nature of raw and fresh diets can pose health risks from exposure to bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli, and listeria – and they require a lot of time, effort, and expense to store and serve safely. Traveling with a pooch on a raw or fresh diet can present considerable challenges, as can entrusting a pet-sitter to get thawing, feeding, and cleaning right in your absence. Dogs require a properly balanced diet, and raw diets can lack the variety dogs need to get their essential nutrients. Exposure to harmful bacteria can impact not only the health of your dog, but of the people in your home as well. As such, raw food is not recommended for homes with small children or anyone with an underdeveloped immune system.

We kept all this in mind when developing our dry food formula. Our recipes were developed by expert formulators and board certified vet nutritionists to ensure your dog receives all the nutrients they need in a complete and balanced diet as safely and conveniently as possible. Our dry food also includes freeze-dried meat and sweet potato nugs for an extra boost of protein and flavor to appeal to even the pickiest of eaters.

Why does your food include pre and probiotics?

About 70% of the body's immune system is located within the gut – a cool science fact that’s true for both dogs and humans. By taking care of your dog's digestive system, you can do a lot to keep them healthy. Pre and probiotics work together to encourage the growth of beneficial bacteria that can improve digestion and help balance gut bacteria. Benefits include a stronger immune system, better digestive health – less constipation, diarrhea, and gas – improved energy levels, and skin and coat health. Our food has a minimum of 50 million CFUs (colony-forming units) per pound, more than enough for a happy gut (and great poops).

Do Kismet's recipes meet AAFCO standards?

Kismet’s recipes are vet-designed to meet AAFCO guidelines for all life stages.

AAFCO (the Association of American Feed Control Officials) defines and establishes regulations for the pet food industry, and sets standards for nutritional adequacy. They protect not just consumers, but safeguard the health of the animals we love. While AAFCO serves as a great baseline, our dry food recipes are formulated not only to meet the minimum standards, but to exceed them as well. All of our recipes are complete and balanced for dogs at all life stages, meaning they provide your dog the right amount of every nutrient they need daily.

Is your food grain free?

We worked with board certified vet nutritionists to develop recipes that give your dog all the nutrients they need – and nothing they don’t. Grains are complex carbohydrates that provide energy through the delivery of important nutrients. We do not include corn or wheat in our recipes, but we do use high-quality and nutritious grains like brown rice and pearled barley to ensure that your dog is getting essential B vitamins, minerals, and fiber from every meal.

How should I make the switch/transition to Kismet?

For most dogs, the secret to a successful switch is to gradually transition to their new food. Changes in your dog’s diet can disrupt their digestion, but their microbiome (a.k.a. the gut) will usually adjust in about seven to 10 days.

Here’s a guide to transitioning to Kismet:

Days 1 and 2: Feed them 25% Kismet and 75% their former food.

Days 3 and 4: Feed them 50% Kismet and 50% their former food.

Days 5 and 6: Feed them 75% Kismet and 25% their former food.

Days 7+: 100% Kismet!

Every dog is different however, so please see how your dog is doing, and transition more slowly if needed.
