What are the most important ingredients I should look for when I'm researching dog food?
The most important thing to look for in any dog food recipe is real animal protein as the number one ingredient, nutrient rich superfoods, pre and probiotics, and then a complete profile of minerals and vitamins – all derived from fruits and vegetables.
Do you recommend grain or grain-free?
As veterinarians, we've been debating this for quite some time, but we're clear now that you do not want to feed your dog grain-free recipes. Certain breeds can develop heart issues on grain-free diets.
What about cooked versus raw meat?
I personally recommend a premium dry food. It's a lot more convenient and the chances for contamination are far, far less.
